Different plants require different soil pH but Lavender plants happen to thrive  in a neutral pH soil of 7. 

Lavender requires well-drained soils like Sandy, sandy loam, or gravelly soils with soil pH between 6.5 and 7.5. If pH is not appropriate (lower than 6.5) Lavenders will either be very short lived or may not grow properly.
